German court weighs Bulgaria's extradition request in Starlink fire case
SPCX•Two German nationals, both 19, are being held while a court in Düsseldorf considers Bulgaria's request to extradite them over the alleged burning of Starlink antennas near Sofia.
1. Extradition request considered
German prosecutors said the two men were arrested last Friday and are being detained while a court in Düsseldorf considers Bulgaria's extradition request. Bulgarian authorities issued a European arrest warrant and accuse them of setting fire to Starlink antennas south of Sofia.
2. Alleged travel and arson
Bulgarian prosecutors allege the men entered Bulgaria from Serbia on October 9, spent several hours there and later returned to Serbia. Germany's prosecutors said they are residents of Duisburg and Moers.
3. Minister expects handover
Bulgaria's Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said he expected the suspects to be handed over to Bulgarian authorities. He said they had committed a similar act in another European Union member state, without elaborating. Ukraine uses Starlink terminals extensively for battlefield communications and installs receivers in many of its drones.
