Ginkgo Bioworks is investigating unauthorized third-party access to data in cloud environments tied mainly to its former biosecurity business, with independent incident-response specialists, forensic experts and outside counsel assisting. The company said access was terminated, credentials were rotated and there was no evidence of continued access or expansion beyond the affected environment. Legacy systems were briefly taken offline, but operations and core systems, including financial systems, were not disrupted. The FBI was notified, customer notifications were largely completed, and regulatory and legal notification requirements are under review.
