Global markets-Stocks mixed with Nasdaq down; gold prices jump
SPY•Gold jumps to nearly seven-week high
In commodity markets, gold prices rose to their highest level in almost seven weeks following recent talks on Iran. Spot gold was last up 4.09% at $4,242.92 an ounce.
U.S. crude fell 0.15% to $75.64 a barrel and Brent rose to $79.79 per barrel, up 0.54% on the day.
A senior Iranian source and two regional officials told Reuters that a proposed deal between Iran and Oman would give Tehran control over ships entering the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, in one of the biggest concessions yet to Iran.
Global equities and rates move little
MSCI's gauge of stocks across the globe rose 5.12 points, or 0.45%, to 1,150.81.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index ended up 0.04%, eking out a fresh all-time high.
