SPY•Microsoft and Meta earnings shape AI expectations
Earnings from Microsoft MSFT.O and Meta META.O reinforced the view that investors were looking for signs that the costly AI buildout is starting to pay off.
Microsoft shares rose 7.97% premarket after the tech major said it expects to keep generating cash through fiscal 2027. Meta, on the other hand, tumbled 8.47% following earnings that reflected the strain of its costly AI bets.
Microsoft had hit "the jet stream while Meta is still building the runway," Jefferies analysts wrote.
Futures tracking the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 NQcv1 rose 0.41%, while S&P 500 EScv1 and Dow futures YMcv1 gained 0.24% each.
Europe's STOXX 600 benchmark .STOXX rose 0.48%. The MSCI All Country World Price index .MIWD00000PUS inched 0.11% higher after two sessions of losses.
