Global PC Shipments Decline 3.6% to 65.7 M Units in 2Q26
TTGT•In 2Q26, global PC shipments fell 3.6% year-over-year to 65.7 million units, driven by a 4.2% drop in notebook volumes to 51.7 million and a 1.3% decline in desktop shipments to 13.9 million. Price hikes of 20%–40% in memory and storage prompted pull-forward purchases but may pressure demand in 2H26.
1. PC Market Performance in 2Q26
Global shipments of desktops, notebooks and workstations reached 65.7 million units in 2Q26, down 3.6% from 68.1 million a year earlier. Desktop volumes fell 1.3% to 13.9 million units, while notebook shipments declined 4.2% to 51.7 million units.
2. Impact of Component Price Inflation
Memory and storage cost increases of 20%–40% year-over-year in 1Q26 raised PC selling prices in 2Q26. This triggered pull-forward buying by consumers and IT buyers but risks creating a demand slump once purchase urgency subsides.
3. Vendor Market Share and Growth
Lenovo led with 16.6 million units (25.3% share), down 2.1%; HP shipped 13.0 million (19.8%), off 9.0%; Dell moved 9.3 million (14.1%), down 4.9%; Apple grew 15.9% to 7.3 million (11.1% share); Asus delivered 5.0 million units, up 0.9%.
4. Outlook for Second Half 2026
Component cost inflation is expected to persist through 2H26, keeping PC prices elevated. Over half of surveyed B2B partners report delayed refresh cycles, indicating potential demand weakness as the market adjusts to higher costs.
