GlobalFoundries set 2028 as the planned start of manufacturing for its FDX Fusion FD-SOI platform at its Dresden, Germany facility. Expansion work, backed by the European Chips Act framework, aims to raise capacity for differentiated semiconductor production; an initial process design kit release is planned for mid-2027.
