GM and WeaveGrid Launch Pilot for Two-Way EV Charging, Home Energy Management
GM•GM has partnered with WeaveGrid to pilot grid-integrated EV charging and home energy management programs in select U.S. regions. The program will leverage two-way charging to support peak load reduction and test vehicle-to-home and demand response capabilities this year.
1. Partnership Launch
General Motors and WeaveGrid have initiated a joint pilot launching mid-2026 to integrate electric vehicle charging with residential energy systems in select U.S. markets. This collaboration marks GM’s first large-scale test of grid-integrated charging using WeaveGrid’s software platform.
2. Program Objectives
The trial will enable bidirectional charging to allow EV batteries to supply power back to homes and the grid, supporting demand response and peak load management. Participants will gain smart charging controls and incentives for shifting energy usage to off-peak hours.
