Gold miners fall after in-line U.S. inflation data
GDX•Major miners trade lower
Top miners Barrick Mining ABX.TO and Newmont NEM.N were down between 0.8% and 2%, respectively.
South African miners Gold Fields GFI.N fell 1.5%, Harmony Gold HMY.N slipped 1.8% and AngloGold Ashanti AU.N dropped 3.7%.
Canadian miners Agnico Eagle Mines AEM.N and Kinross Gold K.TO were down between 1.1% and 1.6%.
Gold miners slip as bullion eases
Shares of gold miners were down, tracking lower bullion prices.
Spot gold XAU= fell 1% to $4,369.82/ounce, after prices climbed to their highest since May 14 on Tuesday.
Gold prices fell after U.S. inflation data was largely in line with expectations on Wednesday, increasing bets on a Federal Reserve interest-rate hike next month, while investors also awaited remarks from Chairman Kevin Warsh this week.
