Spot gold gained 0.8% to $3,903.90 per ounce by 0757 GMT, after touching a one-year low in the previous session. U.S. gold futures for December delivery rose 0.4% to $3,913.20.
2. Oil and Fed signals
Gold fell 3.5% on Friday to its lowest since October 2025, dropping below $4,000 per ounce as a technology-stock selloff triggered margin calls and forced sales of safe-haven assets. Oil prices fell more than 3% on Monday after Iranian negotiators met Qatari mediators in Doha, while investors weighed Fed officials’ comments calling for further rate increases to combat inflation.
3. Other precious metals
An analyst said technical selling and liquidity concerns were weighing on gold’s near-term outlook. Silver rose 2.5% to $50.33 per ounce, platinum was steady at $1,431.50 and palladium gained 0.9% to $986.
