Goldman Sachs investment strategy chief Mossavar-Rahmani to retire, memo says

Goldman Sachs has named Farshid Asl and Matt Weir as co-heads of its Investment Strategy Group, succeeding Sharmin Mossavar-Rahmani, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters on Thursday.

Mossavar-Rahmani, who has led the Investment Strategy Group and served as chief investment officer of Wealth Management, will retire later this year after three decades at the bank, the memo said.

• She joined Goldman as a partner in 1993 after working at Fidelity Management, where she was chief investment officer for fixed-income accounts.
• In July, Goldman reported a 20% rise in second-quarter asset and wealth management revenue, extending a strong run for the business.
• Both Asl and Weir have had a two-decade long career at Goldman Sachs. Weir most recently was managing director of Investment Strategy Group, Asset & Wealth Management.
• Mossavar-Rahmani will work with the Investment Strategy Group and wealth management teams over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition, the memo said.
