Google Cloud introduces Gemini agent for work as AI race heats up
Google Cloud introduced the Gemini agent, which can answer questions, handle tasks, create content and write code. It works with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack, and financial services and legal versions are in preview.
1. Agent handles work tasks
Google Cloud introduced the Gemini agent, a work-focused AI agent that plans tasks, uses tools and company business systems, and returns completed work in documents, email and developer environments. It works inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Calendar, and can also be used through Microsoft 365 and Slack.
2. Models and industry versions
The agent currently uses Google's Gemini models and Anthropic's Claude models, with other models planned for later. Users can create “coworker agents” with their own email addresses and access limited to information they are given. Versions for financial services and legal work are in preview; versions for government, healthcare and retail are coming soon.
