Google plans 702 MW fuel cell project with carbon capture for Wyoming data center
Google plans a $17 billion long-term investment in Wyoming, including its first data center in the state and a 702 MW natural gas fuel cell project with AEP featuring carbon capture and storage.
1. Wyoming investment
The project includes permanent storage of most emissions at Tallgrass’s Wyoming hub, bringing Google’s contracted carbon capture capacity to nearly 1 gigawatt. Google says it will pay for all of its power use and directly cover infrastructure needs driven by its growth; the data center will use air cooling to reduce pressure on local water resources.
