1. Google and Meta Strike Multibillion-Dollar TPU Rental Deal
Google agreed to rent its tensor processing units (TPUs) to Meta Platforms under a multi-year contract estimated to be worth billions of dollars. This deal aims to support Meta’s development of next-generation AI models while boosting potential Google Cloud revenue from TPU rentals.
2. Launch of Gemini’s Nano Banana 2 Image Model
Google’s Gemini team introduced Nano Banana 2, an image-generation model offering pro-grade quality, realistic lighting and multilingual text at high speed. The free deployment in the Gemini app and web is expected to undercut competitors like Adobe Firefly and Figma’s design suite.
3. 0G Labs and Stanford Launch $20M Apollo AI Accelerator
0G Labs, backed by $290 million in funding, partnered with Stanford Blockchain veterans to launch the $20 million Apollo AI Accelerator. Participating teams receive up to $2 million in capital, $200,000 in Google Cloud credits, mentorship and access to decentralized infrastructure tools.
