GoPro Introduces 200Mbps Firmware and $200 Off MAX2 Summer Promotion
GPRO•GoPro's firmware update boosts MAX2's recording bitrate to 200Mbps and brings 10-bit color with GP-Log to all time-lapse modes. The company also slashes MAX2's price by $200, offering the camera for $299.99 and a full accessories bundle for $369.99.
1. Firmware Enhancements
The new firmware raises MAX2’s maximum bitrate to 200Mbps, reducing compression artifacts and preserving finer detail in 8K 360 and 4K single-lens modes. It also extends 10-bit color depth and GP-Log encoding to all TimeWarp, Night Effects, Time Lapse and Night Lapse modes, while adding anti-flicker toggles and blur reduction in low-light single-lens recording.
2. Pricing and Promotions
To coincide with the update, GoPro has cut MAX2’s price from $499.99 to $299.99 for a limited time and offers a MAX2 accessories bundle—complete with extension pole, two batteries and 64GB card—for $369.99, down from $569.99.
3. Strategic Outlook
Enhanced professional features and aggressive summer pricing aim to drive volume sales and strengthen GoPro’s position in the competitive 360° camera market. The package could boost accessory attach rates and recurring revenue from battery and memory card sales.
