1. Program Launch and Curriculum

Grand Canyon University has introduced a new online Associate of Science in Pre-Nursing program requiring 60 credits to cover foundational coursework in anatomy, physiology and microbiology. This is the first associates-level degree offered by the university and does not directly confer RN licensure.

2. Accessibility and Financial Aid

The fully online AS in Pre-Nursing is eligible for federal financial aid, lowering barriers for students seeking flexible entry into healthcare education. Credits are designed for seamless transfer, enhancing affordability and progression confidence.

3. Integration with BSN Pathways

Completed credits transfer into GCU’s accelerated BSN program, which features 12 accelerated sites nationwide and combines virtual coursework with onsite simulation labs and clinical experiences. This streamlined pathway allows students to enter the nursing profession in as little as 16 months.

4. Market and Workforce Impact

With over 4,116 nursing degrees awarded in 2025-2026 and a first-time NCLEX pass rate of 94.67%, GCU is poised to expand its nursing talent pipeline amid a national shortage. This program is expected to boost student enrollment and strengthen the university’s healthcare education offerings.
