Greenland Mines Engages WSP Denmark for 2026 Sarfartoq Environmental Studies
GRML•Greenland Mines has engaged WSP Denmark to conduct the second year of environmental baseline studies at its Sarfartoq rare earth project in southwest Greenland during 2026. The study will expand terrestrial, freshwater, marine and fisheries sampling to bolster a multi-year dataset ahead of a planned Environmental Impact Assessment.
1. Appointment of WSP Denmark
Greenland Mines has formally retained WSP Denmark to lead the second year of environmental baseline studies at the Sarfartoq rare earth project, leveraging the same team that completed the initial 2023 field campaign to ensure continuity in protocols and data quality.
2. Detailed 2026 Field Program
The 2026 field program will include comprehensive terrestrial, freshwater, marine and fisheries sampling, water-flow monitoring and ecological surveys under Greenland’s mineral-sector EIA guidelines, aiming to capture natural variability across key environmental receptors.
3. Strategic Impact on Project Development
Completion of a second baseline year will strengthen Greenland Mines’ environmental foundation for Sarfartoq, supporting forthcoming Environmental Impact Assessment submissions, permitting processes and project planning for Nd-Pr extraction targeting EV magnets, wind turbines and defense applications.
