Greenlight Re appointed John Welch as an independent director, effective today.

Welch was Aspen’s group chief underwriting officer from July 2025 to February 2026. He later served as a reinsurance executive at Sompo through August 2026 following Sompo’s acquisition of Aspen.

Ariel Warszawski joined the board following his election by shareholders at the July 28 annual meeting. Warszawski co-founded Firefly Value Partners, a long/short value hedge fund that wound down in 2025.
