GreenPower Unveils Nano BEAST Heater Warming Cabins 17°F to 84°F Without Range Loss

GPGP

GreenPower’s Type A Nano BEAST bus now features a new electric heating solution that warms cabin from 17°F to 84°F in 30 minutes during high-elevation New Mexico tests, with no measurable range reduction. Combined with heated battery packs, the cold weather package preserves zero-emission status and incentive eligibility.

1. Innovative Heating Solution Integration

GreenPower’s engineering team developed an electric heating system for the Type A Nano BEAST that integrates directly with the bus’s powertrain, delivering consistent cabin warmth without reducing operational range. The system enhances passenger comfort and maintains zero-emission performance by avoiding auxiliary fossil-fuel heaters.

2. Pilot Testing in New Mexico

Field trials in Cuba (7,000 ft elevation) and Shiprock (5,000 ft) demonstrated rapid heating from 17°F to 84°F within the standard 30-minute pre-trip inspection. Both districts reported stable cabin temperatures throughout morning and afternoon routes, confirming the heater’s effectiveness under real-world cold conditions.

3. Cold Weather Package Benefits

The new heating solution, paired with heated battery packs, ensures reliable overnight charging and sustained range capacity in subfreezing temperatures. This fully electric cold weather package retains eligibility for zero-emission incentives while meeting safety and budget requirements for school transportation.
