1. AI adoption and barriers
The Hackett Group's 2026 study found that 74% of enterprises are implementing or piloting AI in sales and operations planning or integrated business planning. Data quality remained the primary barrier, with 50% of surveyed supply chain leaders citing it as a major concern. Integrated business planning ranked among supply chain executives' top five priorities, though many expressed low confidence in meeting that need.
2. Planning requirements
The study said AI can accelerate scenario analysis and quantify financial trade-offs, while effective planning still requires executive ownership, financial integration and reliable data.
