Hackett Group research says enterprise AI shifts from feature add-ons to AI-enabled execution layer
HCKT•Adoption remains uneven
- 64% of providers are embedding AI into existing SaaS applications; 36% are developing AI-native, agentic solutions.
- 74% report production deployment of basic AI agents; configurable agents and multi-agent orchestration remain limited, often in pilots.
- 86% rely on APIs to third-party AI models, highlighting integration, data architecture and governance as key constraints on scaling.
Enterprise AI shifts toward execution
The Hackett Group research finds enterprise software vendors are shifting from add-on AI features toward AI-enabled execution across procurement, finance and HCM.
Most products still focus on assistive automation, not autonomous end-to-end process execution across multiple systems.
