Stocks and sectors in focus
Most major European indices are also in positive territory, with the FTSE .FTSE a touch higher and the DAX .GDAXI rising 0.5%. The CAC .FCHI is trailing though, down 0.1%.
Aerospace and defence stocks .SXPARO have extended gains, last 1.5% higher on the day, and joined by construction and materials stocks .SXOP, which are 1.3% higher, as the top sectoral gainers. Luxury .STXLUXP names are meanwhile now down 1.9%.
Europe's trading day at half-time
We are around the half-way mark for Europe's trading day, and after a sluggish start to the day, the STOXX 600 .STOXX was last up 0.1%, but has been higher as it pushes to make gains. It hasn't reached a new record high though, with the broader market backdrop steady ahead of U.S. CPI data, which could however shape up to be somewhat of a catalyst.
