Hamilton ends pole drought at Mexico City GP
RACE•Lewis Hamilton put Ferrari on pole for the Mexico City Grand Prix, his first pole in a regular grand prix since Hungary 2023, after a 1,197-day wait.
1. Hamilton takes pole
Hamilton put Ferrari on pole position for Saturday’s Mexico City Grand Prix. Mercedes’ George Russell was second fastest and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc third.
2. Antonelli starts fourth
Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli was fifth fastest in qualifying but will move up one place because Max Verstappen has a grid drop. Antonelli needs only a ninth-place finish to become Italy’s first Formula One champion since 1953, at age 20. Russell is his closest rival, 123 points behind.
