Hamilton laments Ferrari's missed one-two after Leclerc clash in Mexico
RACE•Lewis Hamilton said an opening-lap clash with Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc derailed the team's chance of a one-two at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Hamilton finished behind race winner Max Verstappen, while Leclerc was fourth after a five-second penalty.
1. Opening-lap clash
Hamilton started from pole but came under pressure from Leclerc at the opening corners, and both Ferrari drivers ran off track at Turn 4. Leclerc rejoined ahead and held the position as Verstappen moved between the two Ferraris.
2. Hamilton's response
Hamilton said Ferrari had a car capable of finishing first and second, but that the opening corners cost the team the opportunity. He said Ferrari needed to address how its drivers work together. Team principal Fred Vasseur shared Hamilton's frustration and said he would speak with both drivers before addressing the incident.
