1. Rosie's Burgers Expands in Calgary's Marda Loop Neighbourhood

Happy Belly Food Group’s boutique quick-service brand Rosie’s Burgers officially opened its 11th restaurant on January 10th at Unit 105, 2205–33rd Avenue SW in Calgary’s highly walkable Marda Loop neighbourhood. This marks Rosie’s third Western Canadian location, reinforcing the brand’s disciplined real estate strategy that targets dense residential catchments with strong foot traffic. CEO Sean Black highlighted that this opening contributes to more than 114 Rosie’s outlets currently in development across key provinces. The addition also bolsters Happy Belly’s total of 666 contractually committed franchise locations across multiple emerging brands, underscoring the company’s dual expansion model of franchised growth and targeted corporate stores to drive predictable, long-term value for shareholders.

2. Heal Wellness Opens 31st Location in Red Deer’s Timberlands Corridor

On January 10th, Heal Wellness launched its 31st operating restaurant at 499 Timberlands Drive, Unit #9105, in Red Deer, Alberta, situated within one of Central Alberta’s fastest-growing residential and commercial nodes. Specializing in smoothie bowls, açaí bowls and functional smoothies made with clean ingredients, Heal is built on an asset-light franchising model that prioritizes high-traffic retail nodes. With over 177 Heal outlets in development across Canada and the U.S., this opening exemplifies Happy Belly’s accelerated growth plan in the better-for-you segment. Management emphasizes the site’s grocery-anchored surroundings, daily convenience traffic and health-conscious demographics as key drivers of sustainable same-store sales growth and incremental franchise royalties.
