HEI•Outages across Hawaii islands as storm nears
Hawaiian Electric crews were deployed across its five-island territory as Tropical Storm Lala neared Hawaii on Aug. 15, 2026.
About 4,050 customers on Hawaii Island were without power as of 7 a.m., concentrated in Puna, Kohala, and South Hilo.
Maui County had roughly 160 customers out in Upcountry; Oahu had just over 100 outages in the Hawaii Kai area.
Restoration work was expected to be delayed until conditions allow damage assessments, raising the risk of extended outages.
