HE•Outages remain on Hawaii Island after Hurricane Lala
Hawaiian Electric says 6,390 Hawaii Island customers remained without power as of 8:30 a.m. after damage from Hurricane Lala.
The utility said it mobilized additional crews to Hawaii Island to restore power. Tropical Storm Moke weather slowed repair work.
Mutual-aid support included 50 Southern California Edison utility workers, and airlifted equipment reached Hilo via military transport.
The company said full restoration for Kau areas is targeted by Sept. 8, with earlier restoration expected for many other outage zones.
