Health Net suspends refill limits and prior authorizations after LA warehouse fire
CNC•Following the June 23 Palos warehouse fire in Los Angeles County, Health Net suspended prescription refill limits and waived prior authorizations and out-of-network penalties for impacted Medi-Cal members. It also extended care notification grace periods and offers 24/7 telehealth, behavioral support and equipment replacement for providers in the emergency zone.
1. Emergency Prescription and Authorization Relief
After the governor declared a state of emergency for the Palos warehouse fire, Health Net suspended prescription refill limits and waived prior authorization and out-of-network penalties for affected members, ensuring access to emergency medication supplies at any open or out-of-network pharmacy.
2. Provider Support Measures
Health Net extended grace periods for acute and post-acute care notifications, authorized emergency equipment and durable medical equipment replacements, and granted post-admission approvals for impacted facilities to support participating providers in the disaster area.
3. Member Telehealth and Behavioral Support
Affected members gain access to no-cost 24/7 telehealth and behavioral health services, including crisis counseling, mental health referrals and telephone consultations, and can connect with local social services for shelter, food, transportation and legal assistance via 2-1-1.
