Health Net Waives Prior Authorizations and Extends Grace Periods after Palos Fire
CNC•Health Net is suspending refill limits and waiving out-of-network restrictions to ensure Medi-Cal members affected by the Palos warehouse fire can secure emergency prescription supplies and access free telehealth consultations. The plan is also extending grace periods, waiving prior authorization and offering 24/7 behavioral health support for providers and members.
1. Emergency Prescription Access
During the declared State of Emergency, members can refill prescriptions at their original pharmacy if open or call Health Net to obtain emergency supplies at out-of-network pharmacies. All refill limitations are suspended to ensure uninterrupted access to critical medications for those affected by the Palos warehouse fire.
2. Telehealth and Behavioral Support
Health Net is offering no-cost video medical appointments for members unable to reach primary care providers, accessible via the member portal or ID card instructions. Behavioral Health Services are available 24/7 by phone, providing crisis support, grief counseling and referrals to local mental health resources.
3. Provider Assistance Measures
Participating doctors and nurse practitioners in affected areas receive extended grace periods for notifications on acute, post-acute care, DME and home health services. Prior authorization requirements are waived while notification deadlines are relaxed, and out-of-network services may be authorized if contracting providers become unavailable.
4. Social Services Coordination
Members can connect with community resources by calling 2-1-1 for emergency shelter, food, transportation, social services, financial assistance and legal guidance. Health Net is coordinating with verified agencies to ensure comprehensive support beyond medical needs.
