Heartflow Launches TPV-Based Plaque Staging After 36,000-Patient SCCT Data Shows 50% Reclassification
HTFL•Heartflow will present eight new datasets from over 36,000 patients showing that TPV-based plaque analysis identifies significant non-calcified plaque in over 50% of symptomatic individuals with zero coronary calcium. The company launched Heartflow Plaque Staging, its total plaque volume CAD tool, integrated into every analysis.
1. SCCT 2026 Data Presentation
Heartflow will present eight new clinical datasets at SCCT 2026 spanning more than 36,000 patients, demonstrating that over 50% of symptomatic individuals with zero coronary artery calcium harbor significant non-calcified plaque undetected by traditional calcium scoring.
2. Risk Reclassification with TPV Staging
In a DECIDE Registry sub-study of 11,792 symptomatic patients, TPV-based Heartflow Plaque Staging reclassified half of zero-CAC patients into higher-risk categories, shifted 30% of moderate CAC patients upward, and downgraded 27% of high CAC patients with lower total plaque volume.
3. Platform Integration and Reproducibility
Heartflow Plaque Staging, the only CAD staging tool based on total plaque volume with up to 16 years of follow-up data, is now included in every Heartflow Plaque Analysis, delivering coefficients of variation under 6% across plaque metrics and a 95% Fleiss’ kappa for stage categorization.
