Hexcel launched HexWeb CRPAA-5052-F80-12.0 Vented Flex-Core, a 12 lb./ft³ high-density 5052 aluminum honeycomb for space launch vehicles.
The new cell architecture targets higher formability to cut machining, reduce splicing, lower manufacturing complexity, and support larger contoured composite structures.
Venting and coating features for aerospace use
The integrated venting is designed to manage pressure differentials and address outgassing in ascent conditions for composite sandwich structures.
A phosphoric acid anodized coating supports corrosion resistance, and the product is rated for service temperatures up to 350°F (177°C).
Hexcel said the product will be showcased at CAMX 2026 and will be offered in vented or non-vented configurations for space and other high-temperature aerospace uses.
