The visit highlighted a long-standing partnership focused on delivering amphibious warships and leveraging Marine Corps skills in civilian shipyard roles.

2. Maritime Training Academy Tour

Delegates toured the Maritime Training Academy to review apprenticeship and career development programs designed for transitioning service members. The academy’s curriculum covers welding, electrical systems, and quality control processes essential for constructing complex naval vessels.

3. Amphibious Assault Ship LHA 8 Visit

Leaders toured the amphibious assault ship Bougainville (LHA 8) under construction, observing key production phases and craftsmanship standards. The walkthrough demonstrated how disciplined and technically adept personnel contribute to on-time delivery of mission-critical platforms.

4. Veteran Employment and Pipeline Goals

HII employs more than 6,700 veterans across its divisions, aiming to expand that number through structured outreach and training partnerships with the Marine Corps. Company President Brian Blanchette and Sgt. Maj. Carlos A. Ruiz emphasized that Marine leadership, technical aptitude and service mindset are vital to sustaining the shipbuilding workforce.
