HIVE Digital Technologies December Bitcoin Output Soars 197% Year-Over-Year to 306 BTC

HIVEHIVE

HIVE Digital Technologies produced 306 Bitcoin in December 2025, a 197% increase from December 2024, despite a 40% rise in mining difficulty, with average hashrate of 23.3 EH/s. In 2025, HIVE mined 2,311 BTC (+31% YOY) and plans to add 100 MW of hydroelectric capacity in Paraguay by Q3 2026.

1. December Production Soars Despite Rising Difficulty

HIVE Digital Technologies reported production of 306 Bitcoin in December 2025, representing a 197% increase compared with the 103 Bitcoin mined in December 2024. This performance was achieved even though global Bitcoin mining difficulty climbed by 40% year-over-year for the month. Monthly output rose 6% from November and 23% from the third quarter, driven by an average daily production rate of 9.9 BTC and a peak hashrate of 24 exahashes per second. Fleet efficiency improved to 17.5 joules per terahash, yielding 13.2 BTC per EH/s, underscoring gains from hardware upgrades and optimized operations across three continents.

2. Full-Year Performance Highlights Operational Leverage

Over the full 2025 calendar year, HIVE produced 2,311 Bitcoin, up 31% from 1,770 BTC in 2024 despite the May halving event and a 46% rise in average annual mining difficulty. The company’s global footprint, spanning Canada, Sweden and Paraguay, delivered consistent uptime through seasonal weather disruptions. Annual hashrate capacity exceeded 23 EH/s on average, and fleet-wide efficiency initiatives lowered energy consumption intensity, enabling HIVE to capture incremental bitcoins even as network challenges intensified.

3. Expansion Plan Targets Green-Powered Growth

HIVE has initiated development of an additional 100 megawatts of hydroelectric-powered data center capacity at its Yguazú campus in Paraguay, with commissioning slated for the third quarter of 2026. Long-lead substation components have been ordered and construction is underway under a disciplined return-on-invested-capital framework. Upon completion, total renewable energy capacity will reach approximately 540 MW—400 MW in Paraguay and 140 MW across Canada and Sweden—positioning HIVE to scale Bitcoin and GPU-based computing operations while maximizing free cash flow from green energy.

4. Leadership Emphasizes Strategic Resilience

Executive Chairman Frank Holmes highlighted that maintaining more than 2% of the global Bitcoin network reflects years of disciplined execution and technology leadership. President and CEO Aydin Kilic underscored the benefits of geographic decentralization across nine time zones, which mitigates regional weather impacts and optimizes uptime. Management reiterated confidence in the dual-engine model—combining Bitcoin mining with high-performance computing—to generate organic self-funding for future growth and compound shareholder value through 2026 and beyond.
