Holland America Line Ages Bourbon at Sea on 11 Ships, Yields 150–300 Bottles Each
Holland America Line has placed one bourbon barrel from Jefferson's Bourbon aboard each of its 11 ships since March 2026, sailing for at least six months before yielding 150–300 bottles per barrel in 2027. It expands the Single Barrel Program and features tastings in 2027 demonstrating maritime aging effects.
1. Partnership Overview
Holland America Line and Jefferson's Bourbon launched a collaboration to age bourbon at sea across the cruise line’s 11 vessels, marking the distillery’s first partnership with a cruise fleet under its Ocean Aged at Sea® series.
2. Fleet Implementation
Beginning March 2026, one barrel per ship was loaded, with the program completing barrel placement by April. Each barrel will traverse changing maritime climates and motion for a minimum of six months.
3. Bottling and Availability
After maturation, each barrel will yield roughly 150 to 300 bottles that will be returned to ships, where guests can sample the limited-edition bourbon during onboard events in 2027.
4. Strategic Impact
The initiative broadens Holland America’s award-winning Single Barrel Program, underscores its beverage innovation strategy and ties into its America’s 250th celebration by creating a narrative-driven tasting experience.
