HMC•Honda Q&A on FYE March 2027 first-quarter results
Honda held an investor and analyst Q&A on Aug. 5 for FYE March 2027 first-quarter results, attended by CFO Masao Kawaguchi and accounting-finance head Sumihiro Takahashi.
- First-quarter operating profit hit JPY 530 billion, a quarterly record, beating the internal plan by about JPY 100 billion on yen weakness, raw materials, and North America.
- Full-year operating profit guidance stayed at JPY 650 billion, reflecting JPY 520 billion in EV-related losses, second-half-weighted R&D, and raw-material headwinds.
- Tariff impacts in the first quarter ran about JPY 140 billion better than plan due to North America exemptions and timing differences; the first quarter was seen above underlying earnings.
- US auto demand was assumed at near 16 million units; HEV mix rose to the high-17% range, with limited near-term capacity upside from 1.7 million units annual North America output.
