1. Growth listings increase
Growth companies, including firms in biotechnology and AI, now account for 30% of companies listed on Hong Kong’s bourse, up from 10% in 2023, Securities and Futures Commission CEO Julia Leung said. Most are three to five years old, and some are developing AI models.
2. Reforms and selectivity
Leung said exchange reforms and improved clearing and settlement infrastructure had helped attract growth companies while maintaining investor protection. She said Hong Kong’s proximity to China benefits startups seeking capital and international expansion, but stressed the need to prioritize quality over speed as market conditions weaken.
