Horizon Aircraft ramps R&D spending to advance Cavorite X7 ahead of early 2027 initial testing
HOVR•Horizon Aircraft increased R&D spending on its Cavorite X7 hybrid-electric VTOL program and targets completion of a full-scale demonstrator in Q1 2027, followed by testing in early 2027. The company says it has signed letters of intent covering up to 200 aircraft purchases and five leases, valued at more than $1 billion.

Horizon Aircraft increased R&D spending to advance the Cavorite X7 program and is targeting completion of its full-scale demonstrator in Q1 2027. Ground, taxi and flight testing are planned for early 2027. The company said certification planning advanced through meetings with Transport Canada, and named BETA Technologies, Marshall Aerospace and RAMPF Composite Solutions as program partners.
