Horizon Aircraft starts wind tunnel tests of University of Toronto ice protection tech for Cavorite X7 VTOL
HOVR•HOVR•HOVR•HOVR•The work supports a $10.5 million INSAT-funded all-weather vertical propulsion eVTOL project with Cert Center Canada and the university.
The program targets Flight Into Known Icing certification, positioning the X7 for higher winter operability than helicopters or open-rotor eVTOLs.
New Horizon Aircraft began wind-tunnel tests in July 2026 on ice-protection “coupon” samples for its Cavorite X7 hybrid-electric VTOL.
The testing is the first step to assess the viability of University of Toronto anti-icing technology for integration on the aircraft.
