Hut 8 to Invest $16M in West Feliciana Water Infrastructure for AI Campus
Hut 8 will invest $16 million to build a new water well, eight miles of main and system upgrades in West Feliciana Parish for its River Bend AI campus. Completion in second half 2026 will expand service to over 4,000 households and 200 businesses, preserving parish funds.
1. Investment Agreement and Scope
Hut 8 has committed $16 million to expand the West Feliciana Parish water system by constructing a new well, laying eight miles of main and implementing system enhancements tied to its River Bend AI campus. The infrastructure will be transferred free of charge upon anticipated completion in the second half of 2026.
2. Local Service Expansion and Funding Preservation
Upgrades are projected to extend service to more than 4,000 households and 200 businesses in the parish. This private investment complements Louisiana’s $750 million statewide water program and preserves parish capital for other infrastructure priorities.
3. River Bend Campus Economic Impact
Phase 1 of the River Bend AI campus represents a multibillion-dollar investment and will employ approximately 1,000 construction workers at peak. Once operational, it is expected to support at least 75 direct permanent jobs and 193 indirect roles.
4. Sustainable Water Management Design
The campus will utilize a closed-loop cooling system that minimizes ongoing water requirements and sources water outside the residential aquifer, ensuring no strain on local water supplies.
