Hyundai AutoEver and HERE Enable Fivefold Faster Map Updates for Over 1 Million Vehicles
At CES 2026, Hyundai AutoEver and HERE Technologies expanded their online navigation partnership to deliver real-time map data for over one million Hyundai Group vehicles in North America. The deal cut map update cycles by more than fivefold, enabling quicker inclusion of new roads, speed limits and POIs for cockpit navigation.
1. Expanded Online Navigation Partnership
At CES 2026, HERE Technologies and Hyundai AutoEver announced an extension of their collaboration to power online navigation across Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles. Under the agreement, HERE will continue to supply real-time map content and location services to Hyundai AutoEver’s ccNC and ccIC27 infotainment platforms in North America and Australia. According to Counterpoint Research, HERE has held the No. 1 position in the global location platform market for eight straight years, a track record that underpins this expanded deal.
2. Fivefold Improvement in Map Update Cycle
Since integrating HERE’s unified mapping architecture, Hyundai AutoEver has accelerated its map data refresh rate by more than five times. The previous quarterly update schedule has been replaced by a near-weekly framework, delivering new roads, revised speed limits and updated points of interest within days of changes occurring. This faster cadence leverages HERE’s AI-powered map-making engine, which ingests data from over 44 million connected vehicles, roadside sensors and community sources.
3. Immediate Impact on Over One Million Vehicles
The enhanced navigation service now reaches in excess of 1.0 million Hyundai, Kia and Genesis models equipped with connected cockpits. Drivers will experience improved route accuracy and up-to-date hazard and traffic alerts, contributing to safer journeys. Early testing with a pilot group of 10,000 vehicles in California and New South Wales reported a 12% reduction in rerouting events and a 7% improvement in on-time arrival estimates.
4. Roadmap for AI-Driven, Software-Defined Cockpits
Looking ahead, Hyundai AutoEver plans to evolve its offering into a streaming navigation solution using HERE’s APIs and SDKs. The next-generation system is slated to include lane-level guidance, integration with advanced driver assistance systems, live map rendering and support for Navigation on Autopilot capabilities. This roadmap aligns with both companies’ vision for software-defined vehicles, aiming to deliver personalized, in-car experiences such as natural-language trip planning and predictive destination suggestions.
