IBM Launches Sovereign Core Platform for Secure, Compliant AI and IT Environments
International Business Machines launched Sovereign Core, an AI-ready platform enabling secure, compliant, self-controlled AI and IT environments. The solution helps enterprises maintain data sovereignty and regulatory adherence across on-premises and hybrid cloud deployments.
1. IBM Launches Risk Analytics for Finance
In March 2024, IBM introduced IBM Risk Analytics for Finance, a cloud-native suite built on watsonx.ai and watsonx.data designed to deliver real-time financial risk modeling, scenario analysis and compliance reporting. The platform integrates machine learning algorithms to assess credit, market and operational risk exposures, enabling institutions to process up to 100 million risk calculations per hour. Early adopters reported a 30% reduction in model back-testing time and the ability to automate regulatory filings under Basel III and IFRS 9, positioning IBM to capture a growing share of the USD 4.24 billion global financial risk management software market in 2025, which is projected to expand at a 15.01% CAGR through 2033.
2. IBM Unveils Sovereign Core AI-Ready Platform
International Business Machines has rolled out Sovereign Core, an AI-ready platform that allows enterprises to deploy secure, self-managed AI and IT environments on premises or in private clouds. Sovereign Core incorporates hardware-level encryption and policy-driven controls to meet stringent data residency and compliance standards, targeting industries such as financial services and telecom. IBM projects that Sovereign Core will support up to 50 AI workloads per system node, with customers able to isolate data processing in fully controlled enclaves. The announcement coincides with rising demand for self-controlled AI infrastructure as organizations grapple with data sovereignty requirements and cyber-risk mitigation.
