IBM Launches FutureNow Chicago Center, Adds 750 Jobs with $19M Tax Credit
IBM will open its FutureNow Chicago delivery and innovation center at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park, creating 750 full-time roles in AI, cybersecurity, data science and quantum computing over five years. IBM will open the FutureNow Chicago delivery and innovation center at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park on Chicago's South Side. The facility will house AI, cybersecurity, data science and quantum computing teams and serve as an anchor tenant to support client and industry partner projects.
2. 750 Jobs and Apprenticeship Programs
The center will create 750 full-time roles over the next five years, spanning AI, cybersecurity, data science and quantum computing. IBM is also supporting a City Colleges of Chicago apprenticeship program, committing to hire a third of 500 qualified graduates, and offering internships through partnerships with SIU Edwardsville and Chicago State University.
3. State Tax-Credit Agreement and Investment
IBM entered an Economic Development for a Growing Economy tax-credit agreement with Illinois, securing $19 million in credits tied to a substantial capital investment and job creation commitments over the lease term.
4. Quantum Partnerships and Long-Term Impact
The park, built on a former U.S. Steel plant site, has a $1 billion foundational investment from PsiQuantum and hosts the National Quantum Algorithm Center backed by a $25 million state grant. IBM's next-generation Quantum System Two will power the center, which is projected to drive up to $20 billion in regional economic impact.
