IBM•Swiss quantum innovation hub launched at ETH Zurich
IBM and Lockheed Martin have launched a Swiss quantum innovation hub at ETH Zurich, anchored by Switzerland’s first IBM Quantum System Two.
CSCS in Lugano will host the system; IBM will operate it using its Nighthawk processor, with deployment targeted by end-2026.
Research, training and industrial use cases targeted
The initiative aims to accelerate Swiss research, algorithm development, industrial use cases and workforce training through cloud access before on-site installation.
Planned joint R&D with Lockheed Martin targets quantum sensing for navigation and additive manufacturing improvements for metallic alloys.
