ICE Mortgage Monitor flagged U.S. mortgage holder equity at a record $18 trillion in Q2, lifted by renewed home price gains.
Annual home price growth rose to 1.5% in July, a 14-month high, though momentum softened as mortgage rates moved higher.
Rate spread for similar purchase borrowers
Conforming purchase borrowers with similar credit profiles saw a 38-basis-point rate spread in 2026, adding about $5,790 in five-year costs on a $300,000 loan.
