Icon Energy agrees to buy 2.8% stake in containership owner
ICON•Icon Energy agreed to acquire an approximately 2.8% equity interest in an entity formed to own a containership. The 1,800-TEU vessel is chartered at $24,750 per day through February 2028 at the earliest, with about $12 million in minimum contracted revenue.
1. Investment details
Icon Energy will fund the investment from cash on hand, with closing expected by the end of October 2026, subject to customary conditions. The investment includes the right to appoint a representative to the vessel-owning entity’s board.
2. Vessel charter
The 1,800-TEU ECO container feeder was built in 2023 and is chartered to a major liner operator at $24,750 per day. The charter runs through February 2028 at the earliest and is expected to generate approximately $12 million in minimum contracted revenue.
