Illumina expanded its Billion Cell Atlas alliance, adding AI-native drug developer Formation Bio as a new member.
The consortium will use Illumina’s genome-wide single-cell perturbation dataset to support AI-driven target validation, mechanism work, indication selection, and trial design.
The program launched in January 2026 with AstraZeneca, Merck, and Eli Lilly as founding participants.
Illumina reported more than 350 million cells sequenced so far, generating about 6 petabytes of genomic data.
