Infineon, SolarEdge expand partnership to develop solid-state circuit breakers for 800-V DC AI data centers
SEDG•Partnership expands to solid-state circuit breakers for AI data centers
Infineon expanded its collaboration with SolarEdge to develop solid-state circuit breakers for 800-VDC power distribution in AI data centers.
- The project targets faster DC fault isolation than electromechanical breakers, aiming to improve selectivity, efficiency, reliability and power density.
- SolarEdge will design the SSCB solution; Infineon will supply silicon-carbide JFET technology as the core switching component.
- The work extends the companies’ 2025 tie-up on SolarEdge’s solid-state transformer platform converting 13.8-34.5 kV to 800-1,500 VDC.
- SolarEdge’s SST is designed to reach above 99% efficiency, consolidating conversion stages to cut space needs in data centers.
