National Pension Service and Others Boost Ecolab Holdings by Up to 162.4%

National Pension Service raised its Ecolab stake by 1.7% to 597,913 shares valued at $163.7M in Q3, while Mirae Asset boosted holdings by 20.5% to 66,656 shares worth $18.3M. McKinley Carter Wealth Services increased its position by 162.4% to 5,364 shares worth $1.47M, lifting institutional ownership to 74.91%.

1. National Pension Service Increases Stake in Ecolab

During the third quarter, South Korea’s National Pension Service expanded its holdings in Ecolab by 1.7%, acquiring 9,837 additional shares to bring its total to 597,913. This stake represents approximately 0.21% of Ecolab’s outstanding shares and was valued at 163.7 million at quarter-end. The move underscores continued confidence from one of the world’s largest pension funds in Ecolab’s growth prospects within the water, hygiene and infection-prevention markets.

2. Broad Institutional Buying Activity

Several major asset managers also made significant adjustments to their positions in Ecolab over the past two quarters. Norway’s central bank investment fund initiated a new position valued at roughly 847.5 million in the second quarter. Vontobel Holding nearly doubled its stake, adding 1.11 million shares to reach 2.04 million. AQR Capital more than doubled its holding by purchasing 389,981 additional shares, while Robeco Institutional added 344,541 shares in the third quarter. Vanguard Group remains the largest institutional owner with 24.66 million shares after a modest increase of 250,980 shares.

3. Analyst Ratings and Dividend Increase

Wall Street research firms have issued mixed ratings but maintain an overall Moderate Buy consensus for Ecolab. One analyst rates the stock at Strong Buy, ten at Buy, and six at Hold, with an average target just under 300. Analysts have modestly trimmed and raised targets throughout the winter months. Separately, Ecolab raised its quarterly dividend from 0.65 to 0.73 per share in mid-January, reflecting a 12.3% increase and bringing the annualized payout to 2.92 per share, representing a payout ratio near 42%.
