Intel drops to 54.9% server share, inks McLaren compute partnership
Intel lost 370 basis points of server CPU market share in Q1 2026 to 54.9%, while AMD and Arm rose to 27.4% and 17.7%. It also agreed a multi-year compute partnership with McLaren to supply Xeon and Core Ultra processors for Formula One, IndyCar and esports.

Intel's server CPU share fell by 370 basis points to 54.9% in Q1 2026 as total server CPU shipments rose 6% quarter over quarter and 19% year over year. AMD's share climbed 230 basis points to 27.4% while Arm reached 17.7% after adding 140 basis points.
2. x86 Segment Performance Dynamics
Within the x86 server market, Intel's revenue share declined by 490 basis points to 53.8% as its shipments slipped 1% quarter over quarter. In contrast, AMD saw a 15% shipment increase, lifting its share to 46.2%, driven by rising AI and hyperscaler demand.
3. Multi-Year McLaren Partnership
Intel agreed a multi-year compute partnership with McLaren to supply Xeon and Core Ultra processors for Formula One, IndyCar and esports operations. The deal expands Intel's motorsport collaborations and positions its chips at the forefront of racing data processing and simulation.
