Intel in Talks to Produce Apple Chips in U.S., Names Qualcomm Veteran

Apple held preliminary talks with Intel on U.S. chip production and visited Samsung’s new Texas facility, though no orders are in place and concerns remain about matching TSMC’s technology. 1. Apple Explores Intel’s U.S. Foundry Services

Apple executives have held preliminary discussions with Intel about producing chips for its devices in the U.S. and visited Samsung’s under-development Texas plant. While no contracts have been signed, Apple is evaluating supply-chain flexibility as demand for advanced chips grows and seeks alternatives to TSMC’s proven technology and scale.

2. Qualcomm Veteran Joins Intel’s PC and AI Hardware Units

Intel has hired Alex Katouzian, who spent over 20 years at Qualcomm developing mobile CPUs, to lead its core PC business and physical AI systems starting in May. He will oversee technologies for robotics, autonomous machines and AI-enabled devices, signaling a push to strengthen Intel’s traditional PC franchise and future AI hardware prospects.
