Intel targets open, framework-native software stack to speed production AI deployment across CPUs and GPUs
INTC•Intel outlined a plan for an open, integrated software foundation to speed enterprise AI deployment, prioritizing optimizations in frameworks such as PyTorch, SGLang and vLLM. Its plans include positioning Xeon as the control plane for agentic AI and building an open GPU stack with support for workload portability and disaggregated inference.
1. Open software strategy
Intel said it plans to prioritize upstream optimizations in widely used frameworks such as PyTorch, SGLang and vLLM rather than proprietary tooling. It positioned Xeon as the control plane for agentic AI systems, targeting security, governance, orchestration, networking and observability.
2. GPU and inference plans
Intel’s GPU roadmap centers on an open stack with native framework support, simpler tuning tools and workload portability across CPUs and GPUs. Its planning for disaggregated inference focuses on KV-cache movement, scheduling, telemetry and resilience across nodes.
